Lazier Burns Racing Chevy
Slated to Start 32nd Sunday
In 100th Running of Indy 500

INDIANAPOLIS, May 23 - The Lazier Burns Racing #4 Chevrolet driven by Buddy Lazier will start the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 in 32nd place on Sunday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Lazier’s average qualifying speed in time trials yesterday at IMS was 222.154 miles per hour. His first lap was run at 224.956 mph, while the next three laps were done at 222.380 mph, 221.851 mph and 219.496 mph.

“As a driver, you want to get the most out of your stuff. We're a small team and we've been getting better all the time. We just missed it a little there,” Lazier said. “We'll get it right; we're here to race on Sunday, that's the main thing.”

Lazier’s four-lap average on Saturday was faster, at 224.341 mph.
He was also faster during practice earlier yesterday afternoon, when the third lap of the 16 he ran in that session was done at 227.002 mph.

The team has focused on its race set-up rather than qualifying since practice began. It will continue to keep the big picture at the forefront during the two practice sessions that remain before the big race. The cars will be on the track today (Monday) from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., and again on Miller Lite Carb Day on Friday from 11 a.m. to noon.

Lazier will share the last row with Jack Hawksworth and Alex Tagliani.

He’ll also join them as the guests of honor at the annual “Last Row Party” on Thursday on the seventh floor of the Pagoda at IMS. The trio will be roasted at the event, which the Indianapolis Press Club Foundation uses to provide journalism scholarships for students at Indiana colleges and universities.
